Dear friends and supporters,

A couple of months ago, we shared with you the concerns of the Meriniit family regarding their old apartment.

Living in Vatla village, Lääneranna Parish in Pärnumaa, Andres and Sirje Meriniit, along with their five children, four of whom have special needs, are a truly diligent, cohesive, and loving family. They also have two older children who have already started their own lives. Unfortunately, the Meriniit family resides in a Soviet-era stone building, in a four-room corner apartment where the walls are thin and the floors have sunk. The apartment lets the wind through, so during the autumn-winter period, one can only walk around indoors in wool socks and a jacket. No matter how much you heat, the rooms remain cold. Thanks to the “Abikäsi” show, one room was insulated and renovated. A big thank you to them for their help!

We are pleased to announce that, thanks to the support and donations from kind donors, the living conditions of the Meriniit’s large family are continuously improving. We have reached a new phase – the home renovation and improvement project for the family. The family has successfully completed the insulation phase of the apartment, bringing the long-awaited warmth to their home walls. However, our joint journey is not yet complete.

The next step is to focus on separating the WC and bathroom with a partition wall to ensure privacy and comfort for family members. There is also a need to improve ventilation, especially in the bathroom, to combat mold and ensure a healthy living environment. The kitchen also lacks ventilation, which requires immediate attention.

Within the project, we have compiled a list of necessary materials to be purchased from Ehituse ABC – and here, a big thank you to the Pärnu branch and the financial manager Märt Jürgenstein, who have agreed to sell us the required products at a very favorable price:

• Moisture-resistant drywall for the WC and bathroom partition wall (3 sheets, 1100×2400)
• Metal cable cover for the floor under the partition (width 70, edge height 50)
• Wooden beams (50x50x3000, 9 pieces)
• Moisture-resistant paint for the partition, option for two different colors
• New washbasin (replacing the washing machine in the bathroom)
• Toilet bowl (backflow, changing position by 45 degrees)
• Door (width 60 cm)
• Fasteners for installing the partition wall and other accessories
• Water pipes, elbows, taps (for reconnection)
• Floor skirting (additionally in 4 rooms and 3 in the kitchen)
• New kitchen door
• Forced ventilation for the bathroom

The project has thus formed a new budget, and every contribution, big or small, helps us reach our goal.
