A 71-year-old woman named Maie lives in Viljandi County, and her life has become increasingly difficult in recent years. A severe stroke, diabetes, kidney failure, heart problems, and daily life in a wheelchair are now her everyday reality. Despite everything, Maie is a warm, humorous, and cheerful woman who tries to manage her life as well as she can.

Her wish? To live in her own home with dignity and safety.

Unfortunately, her current living conditions are not suitable for that. The toilet and shower room have deteriorated over the years – moving around with a wheelchair is difficult, the rooms are cold and unsafe. Additionally, Maie cannot exit the house independently because there are no ramps or platforms.

Maie’s dream is simple: to regain freedom of movement in her home and live with dignity and warmth.

What Needs to Be Done?

Renovation Work:

• Widening and relocating the bathroom door

• Leveling the floors and door thresholds

• Reinsulating the shower room window and floor

• Updating the shower room slopes and drain

• Insulating the exterior wall

• Building ramps and platforms for wheelchair access

Materials Needed:

Flooring and Insulation:

• Underfloor heating cable and sensor

• Concrete mix S-100 – 10 bags

• Reinforcement mesh

• Polystyrene (5 cm) – 6 m²

• New floor drain

• Mosaic tiles – 5 pieces

• Floor tiles – 6 m²

• Mineral wool (10 cm) – 10 packs

Walls and Finishing:

• Wall tiles – 6 m² (preferably rust-colored)

• Drywall – 2 sheets

• Filler – 1 kg

• Wall paint – 1 kg

• Sandpaper

Installation and Sealing Materials:

• Assembly foam (Makroflex) – 4 cans

• Insulation tape for windows

Wood Structures for Ramps and Platforms:

• Decking boards – 1 m²

• Beams 5×15 cm – 3 pcs (length 5 m)

• Wood screws 5×100 mm – 1 box

• Wood preservative

Doors:

• Interior door, 90 cm wide
